Looking for a BookingHound Alternative? Why Sailia is the Best Choice
We get a lot of operators moving to us from BookingHound. Enough that we know the pattern before the demo starts.
It is rarely one big thing. It is the 4% on every booking that gets harder to swallow as you grow. It is the feature you need sitting on a higher plan. It is asking about marketing and being quoted £1,250 a month for it as a service. It is reporting that will not quite tell you what you need to know. And it is the nagging sense that since the Beyonk acquisition in 2022, BookingHound is one product in someone else's group rather than the thing they get up in the morning to build.
Sailia does what BookingHound does. Tickets, memberships, passes, gift vouchers, EPOS, self-service, digital waivers, capacity, waitlists. Then it does the parts BookingHound leaves you to sort out yourself, and it does not charge you extra for the ones you actually need.

The 4% problem
BookingHound charges a monthly fee plus 4% of every booking. That is fine at £200k of bookings. At £1m it is £40,000 a year for software, and it grows every time you have a good summer. You are effectively paying your booking system a commission on your own hard work.
Sailia gives you the model that fits. Usage-based if that suits you, or an annual licence with enterprise pricing and a proper SLA. Growth should make software cheaper as a percentage of revenue, not more expensive.
Everything on, not everything upsold
BookingHound puts real functionality behind plan tiers. Bulk pricing, so you can charge differently by group size, is an Enterprise and Freedom plan feature. Member-only pricing and member-only activities, same. These are not exotic requests. They are how a normal attraction sells.
With Sailia there are no tiers. Dynamic and group pricing, memberships, gift vouchers, waivers, POS, kiosks, 30+ automated comms triggers, multi-lingual checkout. On from day one. Nothing you assumed was included turning up as a line item later.
Marketing should not be a separate invoice
Ask BookingHound about marketing and you get a services quote. Packages from £1,250 a month. A website at £6,000 upfront plus £3,000 a year to keep editing it.
Sailia builds it in. Every customer lands in your own CRM. Segment by what they booked, when they came and what they spent, then send email and SMS from the same screen. Thank-yous, reminders and review requests fire on their own. No exports, no agency retainer, no second subscription. Your list is yours, and it grows every season.
The operational half BookingHound leaves you
BookingHound handles resources and staff, but you are the one doing the thinking. Who is qualified for that session. Who is actually on shift. Which kit comes out of the store and whether it is back.
In Sailia the booking knows. It checks which instructors hold the right qualification, who is available, what kit the session needs and what space it sits in, then staffs and allocates it on its own. Waivers get signed at checkout and attach to the booking. Accommodation is native too, or links to your PMS if you already run one.
That is a rota you are not building on a Sunday night.
Reporting that answers the question
Limited reporting is the complaint that comes up most about the platform. Operators want to know which sessions actually made money, which instructor fills their slots, what a customer is worth over three years. Not just how many tickets sold last week.
Sailia reports on all of it, live, with no export step. And Lia, our AI agent, will just tell you when you ask.
Migrate without going dark
Single site, you are live in days. A large multi-site operator with years of membership history and live payments takes longer. Anyone quoting you a fortnight has not looked at your data.
What does not happen is downtime. We run alongside BookingHound and move you across in stages, with bookings, memberships and payments live the whole way. No cutover weekend. No box office on pen and paper. We have done this migration plenty of times, so we know where the awkward bits are.
Support is live chat, answered in minutes, and one person owns your migration start to finish. As Tracey Boyne puts it:
"All of the features are so well thought out. It really is amazing. Just get it."
The bottom line
BookingHound is a capable booking engine and has been around a long time. If tickets in, tickets out is the job, it does it.
If you want the software to run the operation, not just sell the entry, and you would rather not pay 4% of a growing business plus a marketing retainer on top, that is why operators keep moving to us.

Frequently asked questions
Have other operators actually switched from BookingHound? Yes, plenty. It is one of the systems we migrate from most often.
Will we lose our booking history? No. We migrate your customers, bookings, memberships and gift vouchers across.
Can Sailia do everything BookingHound does? Yes. Tickets, capacity, waitlists, memberships, passes, gift vouchers, EPOS, self-service and digital waivers are all native, plus the operational side BookingHound does not cover.
Do you charge a percentage of every booking? Not necessarily. You can go usage-based or take an annual licence with enterprise pricing and an SLA. We will show you both against your actual volumes.
Is marketing extra? No. CRM, segmentation, email and SMS campaigns are built in.
Do you have an API? Yes, extensive and fully documented. Bookings, memberships, customers, availability, payments and access control all exposed.
How long does it take to switch? Single site, days. Larger multi-site operators take longer because the data is genuinely complex. Either way, no downtime. We run alongside your current system while you keep trading.
