One platform for participant operations
The Musto iQFOiL World Championship will bring up to 250 of the world’s best Olympic windsurfers from 40 nations to Weymouth and Portland from 7 to 12 September 2026.
Alongside the racing, ELEVATE:iQFOiL will deliver public activities and community programmes designed to help more people experience watersports and remain involved beyond the event.
Sailia will provide the booking and registration system behind the programme, including opportunities for new participants to get on the water during Finals Day.
Participants will have a straightforward way to register, while the teams and volunteers delivering the activities can manage bookings, availability, participant information and follow-on opportunities in one place.
Rob Howlett, Regional Manager for the South West at the RYA, said:
“We’re delighted they’re supporting the Musto iQFOiL World Championship, providing the framework for new participants to try out our sport.
“None of this would be possible without the Sailia system, providing us with the necessary means to register participants in a seamless manner.”
Supporting the complexity of major events
Large events bring many of the same operational challenges faced by multi-location experience businesses, compressed into a much shorter and more visible period.
Different activities have their own capacities, schedules and participant requirements. Multiple organisations and delivery teams need access to the right information. Participants need clear communications and a simple journey from registration through to attendance and future opportunities.
Sailia brings these parts together in one system.
For organisers, this means less time moving information between forms, spreadsheets and separate systems. For participants, it creates a clearer and more consistent experience.
The iQFOiL World Championship is an important demonstration of Sailia’s ability to support this complexity at the scale and profile of a major international sporting event.
A world championship on home waters
Riders will compete at speeds of up to 35 knots, with five days of qualifying followed by a knockout Medal Series on Saturday 12 September.
It will be the first major iQFOiL championship hosted in the UK since the discipline joined the Olympic sailing programme, and the first World Championship in an Olympic windsurfing class on UK waters since 2009.
British world champions Emma Wilson and Andy Brown will both defend their 2025 titles on home waters.
Creating an impact beyond the event
ELEVATE:iQFOiL is the championship’s official social impact programme.
The RYA and its partners are working with local community groups to give more people opportunities to experience the water and watersports, including those who are currently inactive or completely new to the sport.
The programme is designed to create long-term benefits for young people, volunteers, communities and the environment.
It also creates routes for participants to continue their journeys through further activity, volunteering, training and employment.
This focus on what happens after someone’s first session is particularly important to Sailia. The platform is not only designed to process a booking, but to help organisers manage the wider participant journey and build lasting relationships.
Finals Day in Weymouth
The championship concludes on Saturday 12 September with the Medal Series and a free Fan Zone at Weymouth Pavilion from 10:00 to 18:00.
The Fan Zone will feature live racing on a big screen, athlete interviews, music, food, family activities, competitions and opportunities to get on the water.
Spectators will be able to try windsurfing, dinghy sailing and keelboat sailing, take an accessible boat ride and participate in sustainability sessions.
Rob Howlett added:
“We’re excited to host the Musto iQFOiL World Championship this September and look forward to welcoming up to 250 sailors from 40 nations and getting new participants to be inspired by the event and try sailing.”
We’re proud to support the RYA and the wider championship team.
For Sailia, this partnership shows what the platform can do for organisers running major sporting events and complex participation programmes: bring experiences, delivery teams and participant journeys together, without adding more admin.
